Armin Grunwald

On October 11th at the Digital October Center, Armin Grunwald, one of Europe’s leading futurists, delivered a lecture entitled, “Will Technology Destroy the Future?”. The lecture continued the work of Digital October's new education project, Knowledge Stream, and opened a new lecture series: " Futurology: The Future of the Future."

Armin Grunwald is a professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the director of ITAS (Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis), and since 2002 has headed the Office of Technology Assessment at Budenstag (TAB). Grunwald’s book, Technology and Society: West-European Experience in Investigating the Social Consequences of Scientific and Technological Development, was published in Russian in 2011.

In his lecture, Professor Grunwald shared findings from his studies on the social assessment of modern technology and described the impact of technological progress on our future.

The presentation took place via teleconference, in English with simultaneous translation. After the lecture, a round table was held in the conference hall with participants Prof. Gotthard Bechmann, Prof. Vitaly Gorokhov, and other members of the academic community.
